"Changes in latitudes"

With the heat of summer in full swing and temperatures hitting high nineties to over a hundred. My mind drifted taking me away to a southern island and a Jimmy Buffet's song: "I took off for a weekend last month just to try and recall the whole year... It’s these changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes nothing remains quite the same..." When I first become involved with coaching it was a fairly new concept. Today coaching has been around for over ten years and been practiced in many organizations in the US and Europe. In the past few years it has spread to China and widely used in the Southern Hemisphere. What has become noticeable is the changes in coaching; from a little know concept to one that has had major impacts on corporations to executives thrown into transition from the economic upheaval we're experiencing. What I have found is that coaching is here to stay. Major universities are offering coaching programs to enhance companies internal practices and bolster executive performance. Standards are being put in place by the International Coaching Federation in conjunction with the offerings from universities. According to the Executive Coaching Forum... "The market will mature further with customers looking for more robust coach credentials, simpler pricing structures, more common contracting procedures, and protocols to manage coaching interventions." However, what still remains as a challenge is how to measure the effectiveness of coaching. To that challenge I have found a non psychometric tool that is proven and a standard used in fortune 100 corporations at the executive level. The tool is used to take snapshots of a person’s progress based on an individual assessment of their current situations, their desired outcomes, needed changes and the steps to get there. WWJBD
