Team Development

Our approach to team development is highlighted by helping the team as a whole identify priority development goals, and by helping each team member define his or her individual contribution to those goals.  This approach is done with a singular focus on only those goals that enhance team performance.

 The Team Leader

The team leader plays a pivotal role in achieving the team's high performance.  We work with your team leaders to define the strengths and development areas specific to their pivotal and leadership role in their teams.  Our objective is to train team leaders to become coaches of their staff and to create an environment that is rich in feedback.

 Group-level focus

We use a combined approach and assessments that identify leadership abilities, skills, traits, and values to help create the team's organizational and individual goals. 

More specifically the tools we use:

  • Identify emotional strengths, the capacity for trust, diplomacy and consideration which leaders and key team members must have to establish positive relationships with others and gain support for a cause or objective
  • Determine intellectual strengths that identify individual abilities to use reasoning and communication to gain buy-in, which is aligned with confidence and integrity for managing and leading.
  • Measure capacities for receptivity, inspiration and creativity for establishing a compelling basis for change, motivation and outcomes.

By assessing the team leader's capabilities and team members' skills, chemistry and fit relative to the organizational structure of the team increases the teams' ability to identify and target gaps within the team relative to strengths, weaknesses and how to close the gaps to strengthen the performance, productivity and success of each team member and overall team.

 Individual-level focus

Because each member on the team plays a critical role in the team's progress.  Our coaches work with individuals to identify and define their own development requirements and create goals that are linked to the team's targets and priority areas. To support an environment that encourages individuals to achieve their goals, our coaches work with the team's leader to develop coaching capabilities by delivering targeted skill building sessions.

 Measuring Progress

Benchmarks are created during the initial team development process where the group and individual goals are established.  Metrics are established using the goals that will enhance the teams' ability for maximizing success and performance.  Our coaches work with the team and team leaders to develop techniques and skills that can be used in a continuing effort for learning and growth.
